The Scent of Summer
My Top 3 Summer Perfume For 2021
Summer is hands down my favorite time of the year. The older I get – the earlier my countdown to summer starts. Bring on the chilled white wine, picnics, sunglasses, sunshine and the scent of summer!
One of my favorite things to do in my preparation of warm weather is to swap out my darker, moody perfumes for light refreshing florals and zesty citruses. Yep, just like how you swap out your sweaters and jeans, you should be updating your scent wardrobe!
Because let’s face it: we could all use a mental vacation right now. This past winter sucked and there is no faster pick me up then a breezy beach scent which acts as a reminder of the warmer days ahead.
It’s proven that when scents are inhaled it sends a signal to the emotional center of the brain. Scent has the power to be a mood-lifter, reduce stress and ease anxiety. So to help everyone out, I went ahead and rounded up a couple of my all time favorites with a proven track record for intrigue.
FLORAL
Fragrance Family: Floral
Scent Type: Fresh
Key Notes: Golden amber, layers of classic white florals and a creamy coconut finish
Mood: Mellow
This list had to start out with one of my favorites! This perfume starts off with big warm tropical juiciness and then tones down to a sweet hint of vanilla and coconut which adds depth. It doesn’t have a fresh scent which is why I think I like it so much. It smells dewy, pure, and delicately sweet which makes it appropriate for every day use. I find great wear projection throughout the day but is not overpowering. Some have called it a suntan lotion scent and when I wear this it has me imagine I’m at a tropical resort walking through a lush garden of white florals and drink a Pina Coloda.
CITRUS
Fragrance Family:
Citrus
Scent Type: Fresh
Key Notes: Bergamot with floral peony ending on a woodsy finish of vetiver and cedarwood
Mood: Uplifting
Citrusy, fresh and aquatic with a soft woody base. This perfume is a PERFECT pair for a hot summer day. The main note in this fragrance is bergamot and I feel that sometimes that note can come across as masculine but I do not feel that way about this scent. I would call it unisex but leaning more towards a feminine flavor. The projection is not as long lasting as some of the others. But because of the light and refreshing aroma, I feel it’s pleasant enough you can give yourself a redo spritz throughout the day and it won’t offend anyone’s senses.
SPICY
Fragrance Family:
Warm & Spicy
Scent Type:
Woody Spices
Key Notes: Classic tobacco with vanilla, cocoa and sweet wood sap.
Mood: Bold
This is one of those scents that I have to be in the mood to wear. The spices are up front and intense. The projection is insane with a wear time up to 8 hours. I usually find I’m worn out before the fragrance is. The tobacco and vanilla are lovely but the cinnamon, clove and nutmeg is anything but subtle. This perfume is not for someone who doesn’t like intense spice! It’s dark & rich and it’s for nights you want to make an impression – and trust me you will. This could go hand in hand with that little black dress.
If these perfumes has you in a summer loving mood be such to check out my review on my FAVORITE body butter. The scent from this cream is almost stronger than any summer perfume you could buy. I never find myself without it!
